Federal Acquisition Regulations - FARs
The Federal Acquisition Regulations System is established to codify and publish uniform policies and procedures for acquisition by all executive agencies. The Federal Acquisition Regulations System consists of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), which is the primary document, and agency acquisition regulations that implement or supplement the FAR. The FAR System does not include internal agency guidance of the type described in 1.301(a)(2).
FEDERAL ETHICS RULES & LAWS
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) oversees the executive branch ethics program and works with a community of ethics practitioners of nearly 5,000 ethics officials in more than 130 agencies to implement that program. When government decisions are made free from conflicts of interest, the public can have greater confidence in the integrity of executive branch programs and operations. OGE’s mission is part of a system of institutional integrity in the executive branch.
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests
Since 1967, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has provided the public the right to request access to records from any federal agency. It is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government. Federal agencies must disclose any information requested under the FOIA unless it falls under one of nine exemptions that protect interests such as personal privacy, national security, and law enforcement.
The U.S. Federal Government consists of hundreds of departments and agencies that are essential in the everyday operations of the government. These departments and agencies have important and diverse roles within the government, from military operations and safeguarding national security to promoting public health and overseeing economic matters. These departments and agencies address the complex needs and concerns of the Federal government and American citizens.
CUI Program
Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is information that requires safeguarding or dissemination controls pursuant to and consistent with applicable law, regulations, and government-wide policies but is not classified under Executive Order 13526 or the Atomic Energy Act, as amended.
